Description
Birch and Oak make up the 7 inch layered base. Brazilian Cherry and Maple make up the midsection, highlighted by inlayed turquoise. Birch and Oak finish the stem to a height of 28 inches. Turquoise and Brazilian Cherry are like the Sedona earth and the Arizona sky. The Maple, definitely, inspired this piece.

Brazilian Tulipwood and Cherry make up this piece. It starts with a 5 inch base and ascends to 21.5 inches to the top of the finial. As this piece progressed, the shape definitely created the name.

Walnut makes up the 6 ¼ inch base and gently rolls off the tabletop. The Walnut grains change direction and transition to Birch through the midsection where the Birch ball adds a balance between the upper and lower portions, then steps to Cherry to finish the stem to a height of 28 inches to the top of the final. The balance here signifies the balance between the mind and body.

Cedar just has unpredictable and amazing grains. Turned from 7 inch blocks of Cedar, these lamps start with a 6 inch base and rise to a height of 20 inches to finial top. Cedar grains, most of the time, dictate the shape of the lamp. In this case the 1st lamp was turned and then the 2nd was matched to it. The blocks were cut from the same tree in the same direction, but as you can see, the grains seem to run in different directions.

This 6 inch base was rotated in layers, then transitions to the patterns that flow into the midsection. There’s where Curly Maple reflects the light to give depth to this piece.
